Matrix® Turf fibers are manufactured at Hellas’ fiber factory in Alabama. The quality materials we use give the fibers a natural look and feel, providing a soft yet strong surface with a long life span. We offer a variety of logical fiber configurations tested for different performance characteristics.
The patented REALFILL™ Infill starts with a unique silica pea gravel base. This feature provides proper fiber support, energy restitution, enhanced shock absorption, and rapid drainage. The larger granules in the REALFILL won’t compact under severe weather conditions and heavy use allowing for a consistent G-Max over time.
After the peagravel is infused in the turf system, a layer of dust free SBR, cuboidal rubber granules completes the REALFILL. The rubber granules have a deliberate shape and size to minimize “fly-out,” “splashing,” and migration of the rubber. The result is a uniform, predictable playing surface.
At Hellas Textiles, the Matrix Turf® fibers are tufted into a triple layered, dimensionally stable backing. The backing is then fused with our polyurethane coating from Hellas polymers, creating an exceptionally strong tuft-bind. The tuft-bind is the force required to pull a “tuft” out of a carpet, according industry-standard test procedure. For turf, this is an extremely important measurement - a great tuft bind means the fibers will stay put after many years of wear and tear.
Our exclusive Proline® T44 from SIKA is an ecofriendly, non-toxic adhesive offering an elastic joint with exceptionally long durability. This one-component adhesive is compatible with our turf coating, and requires no on-site mixing - contributing to a uniform application, consistent at every seam and inlaid marking. In addition to your standard turf warranty, field seams, and markings will be backed by a 10-year rupture warranty from the top adhesives company in the world.
Turf Lock are reinforced rivets that are injected into the turf at every inlay, logo, graphic, and field marking.
The draining stone is used as a solid foundation and crucial for any turf field. The stone is free draining and must allow for a high degree of water migration and still exhibit excellent stability. This will allow the field to drain readily and still be durable and hold planarity throughout its life. Planarity of the stone layer is essential as it is the foundation of the turf, and is ensured through precise laser grading.
The Cushdrain pad (frequently called an elastic layer) is installed on top of a flat, laser-graded stone surface and significantly improves the field’s drainage and shock absorption, or G-max. This two-in-one system is composed of mega rubber and moisture-cured polyurethane binder. The Cushdrain® pad is paved in place and will ensure long-term planarity of the field and enhance the longevity of the turf. In addition, it is designed to be reused and will stay intact for several turf lifecycles, therefore the consistency and playability of the surface is enhanced.
Geo Plus is an organic infill alternative made from 100% environmentally friendly materials consisting of coconut fibers and cork. Geo Plus, with a full sprinkler system, reduces surface temperatures by up to 40 degrees Fahrenheit through resisting heat absorption and retaining humidity in a cooler field.
