Austin, TX (April 29, 2015) —
Paul Laird Field replaces existing 10 year old field turf with Matrix® Turf for SOSU in Durant, OK. Hellas has removal process scheduled to begin in May.
This famous stadium is home to a program that won 17 conference championships, which included three straight Lone Star Conference North Division titles in 2004, 2005, and 2006. The field had a $2.8 million renovation which included installation of synthetic turf, a home-side seating expansion, and the construction of new locker and training room facilities beyond the south end zone. In 2006, after 98 years of championship tradition, a Football Honors Plaza was added in the southeast corner of the stadium. It celebrates the 17 conference championship teams, 24 Athletic Football Hall of Famers, and each of the 18 head coaches in the history of the program.
“Hellas Construction is honored to provide a world-class turf to an already prestigious stadium and program,” says Mauricio Espinosa, Turf Operations Manager for Hellas Construction. “We look forward to watching the Savage Storm have many future winning seasons on our Matrix® Turf,” he says.
SOSU’s first game on the newly installed turf will be against the Henderson State University Reddies on September 3, 2015.
