Ogden, UT (March 13, 2015) –
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Ogden Community Soccer Complex was held Thursday afternoon at the site of the three future soccer fields in Ogden, Utah. Hellas Construction will be on site in two weeks starting construction on the first field at Ogden School District campus. Hellas’ Matrix® Synthetic Turf will serve as the home field for the Ogden High School soccer teams and will be available for use by all district athletic teams, local teams, and leagues in Weber County. In the future the facilities will include outdoor lighting, scoreboards, bleachers, ADA approved restrooms, and a concessions stand.
“We are excited to get our crews on the ground and make this project a success, and we are especially happy to be part of a project with such strong community involvement,” said Reed J. Seaton, President and CEO of Hellas Construction. Hellas is the construction and synthetic turf partner for the U.S. Soccer Foundation, also providing a significant grant for this endeavor.
The project began 18 months ago as a local group of parents, community members, and high school soccer coaches gathered together with the dream of building a large soccer complex for the Ogden community. This committee worked to bring together partners, including the Ogden School District, Ogden School Foundation, and Ogden City. The committee also raised private and corporate contributions as well as grants from Weber County RAMP, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, and a $1 million grant from the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation to make the Ogden Community Soccer Complex a reality.
With the participation increase nationwide in both youth and professional soccer, Hellas is committed to building first class fields across the country. The company is continuing to develop efficient construction and installation along with pioneering turf products for the soccer community.
