About
On Wednesday, the County of San Diego Parks and Recreation revealed the new artificial turf on the south side of 4S Ranch Sports Park. About 100 people attended the event. Some of these people included County Supervisor Dave Roberts and Director of Parks and Recreation Brian Albright.
In attendance also was Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the County of San Diego Helen Robbins-Meyer, and Sarah Aghassi, who is the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (DCAO) of the Land Use Environment Group (LUEG).
Dr. Gordon Poelman DDS and his wife Laurie were in attendance. They as well as several other community leaders graciously donated funds to support the facility and our youth. One of the baseball fields will be called Poelman Field for the next five years! Thanks to Gordon and Laurie for stepping up to the plate for our community.
Some of the improvements to the park that Brian Albright mentioned are an additional field, so now they have a total of three fields, and nice new seat walls along the fields.
The most important improvement though is the amount of water that the park will be saving each year. In his speech Dave Roberts said that the artificial turf will save the county over 4 million gallons of water a year!

About the Project:
Hellas construction did a multi-purpose field conversion from grass to synthetic turf, by re-grading existing fields, constructing a vertical drain system, and installing its RealGrass Matrix® Turf System. Hellas also provided field equipment for the project. The entire conversion was completed in 90 days.
