Lubbock,TX (PRWEB) August 25, 2013 - Lubbock ISD is putting the finishing touches on an $18-million renovation to 52-year-old Lowrey Field in preparation for the Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to be held this Sunday, August 25, 2013.
“All of this has come together to make this a welcoming, well-functioning venue for students. Also, the venue is now better suited to be considered and chosen for playoff games for other regional districts. This will be an economic boost for those districts coming to Lubbock to attend those games,” said Lubbock ISD Athletic Director, Mark Ball.
Paired with the already--existing video scoreboard, donated by PlainsCapital Bank as part of the $3 million naming-rights agreement, and Hellas Sports Construction’s Matrix® Turf and epiQ TRACKS™ surface systems including the new fieldhouse gym floor, also by Hellas, Ball feels LISD now has one of the finest facilities in the state.
“Lubbock ISD is one of our top 2 largest customers. With PlainsCapital Bank as our banker for Hellas Construction, this situation is unique and unparalleled. The correlation of these brands has set the foundation and brings together a premier partnership for the community. The trust and loyalty we have in PlainsCapital is strong and along with the commitment to Lubbock ISD continues to display their core values and all around demonstrates our customer relationships,” said Reed J. Seaton, President and CEO of Hellas. “We have a long-term vision to ensure the youth of Lubbock have viable opportunities to play their games on the safest playing surfaces in the industry, at the highest level, and to foster the next generation of academic athletes.”
“This is now my 35th year (in athletics) and these opportunities don’t come along very often, so this is a big moment for me,” Ball said. “I think there are four areas that are really important. I can honestly say that our press box is the best, our playing surfaces are the best, our fieldhouse is the best and our scoreboard is the best. I would compare those with anybody in the state of Texas.”
The season opener takes place on Thursday, August 29th.
